Election 2024: The Revolt of the Revolting

It was the revolt of the revolting. The people who hated the elite because they’ve been told again and again that they aren’t smart enough, attractive enough, rich enough. Educated enough. They are the bumpkins from the countryside. The Walmart shoppers. This election was the declaration of the deplorables who finally stood up and said,

“I’m sick and tired of this shit and I’m not going to take it anymore.”

The Hollywood elite. The urban elite. The time had come to punch them in the mouth.

The elites can’t understand it.  They have been telling the non-elites, and themselves, subtly but effectively, that somehow these non-elites were really “less thans,” simply not good enough.

The men and women in the street have revolted.  And, voting against what the elites kept telling them are their own best interests. Voters in rural states and small towns across the country, are striking an American version of the 20th century Bolsheviks and the French in the ‘90s. The 1790s.

You can see it now.  We may not have considered ourselves elite but they do. And they believe we think we are better (and better off). In their eyes, it’s what people have told them for generations.  We may not see ourselves that way. We protest — loudly, viscerally — when we are told we are elite. But we have been treating them as “less than.”

And it’s our fault for not listening. Not hearing what they have been saying.

And isn’t it ironic? They were led by a billionaire, but who, like them, was never accepted, never invited to sit at the popular guys’ table. Trump, like them, was mocked and belittled as an outsider. He was just the Queens upstart to the Manhattan elites.  Despite his flamboyant golden lifestyle, and the huge banner with nothing on it but his name in dramatically huge letters, he defeated the child of a penniless immigrant who epitomized the American dream and fought and worked and sweat to earn elite status.

She did everything right.  He did everything wrong. But in the end, he led a revolution of the “everyman” while the ones who might never consider themselves elite, refused to hear what the proletariat have been telling them:

We’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore.

Your explanation is better than most. It doesn’t explain why the millionaires, successful politicians, titans of industry, etc. also supported him. It is hard for me to believe that there are 80 million downtrodden voters. Are these the same people who watch and contribute to the Sunday evangelists who preach so beautifully on TV? Who are entertainers but not really with any believable spirituality.
